Pages: 350
Genre: Regency Romance

The first wedding night that Lady Juliana St. Albans spent with the dark and daring Rhys Vaughan was intoxicating, the heady culmination of her new husband’s driving hunger and her own awakened sensuality. When he mysteriously disappeared the next morning, she waited for him in hope and desperation. And when he was finally proclaimed dead in a shipwreck, she bitterly mourned the loss of her love.
The second wedding night that Juliana spent with Rhys Vaughan was six years later, after he returned to claim her just as she was about to wed another. This Rhys was different—bolder, harder, and convinced that she’d betrayed him. Only their blazing passion remains from their years apart. But is it enough to light their way through the maze of mystery, menace, and mistrust—to the love they once shared and would have to find again?
My Thoughts...
Lately I've been craving Regency Romance so I guess I picked this one up at the perfect time.
Stormswept in 5 words: Sweeping romance centered around betrayal.

Storyline: This book is written into two parts.
  • Part one being before Rhys disappearance. This was probably my favorite. I enjoyed seeing Juliana and Rhys fall in love despite their vast differences in culture and social class.
  • Part two is written after Rhys disappeared. I was slightly frustrated at times, I'll tell you why below.
Queue the frustration: As all Regency Romances with an HEA go we all know that eventually whatever sort of drama that is keeping the MCs apart will be resolved. I like that aspect of a good Regency, however in this book I felt like the problem was dragged on too long. I still enjoyed their relationship, I just didn't like them being apart for so long.

"I should have know you'd never trust me. It was all a sham-the soft words and kindness. Inside, you waited for me to make some mistake so you could show me to be the unworthy Englishwoman you already believed I was."
The Chemistry between Rhys & Juliana was entertaining. I only wish Rhys would have come to his senses a bit earlier in the novel. I do love how their relationship became even stronger because of the hardships that they went through though.

Welsh culture: I liked learning a bit about Wales and their culture. I especially enjoyed reading the Welsh poems at the beginning of each chapter. Some were quite endearing!

As sweet is your pose
As a riverbank rose
Or a posy where lily or
lavender blows.
-Huw Morus, "Praise of a girl"

The Characters:
  • Juliana: I just loved her character! She was open-minded, determined, selfless and caring. Her brother Darcey on the other hand was the COMPLETE OPPOSITE of her.
  • Darcey: (Juliana's brother) He was DOWNRIGHT ANNOYING! I literally wanted to jump into the book and throttle him! He's most certainly a villain I don't believe can be redeemed. He's selfish, spoiled, vain as well as a gold-digger.
All-in-All: I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book. I would have loved seeing their relationship problems get resolved a bit sooner, as I stated above it was dragged on a bit too long for my taste. I am rating this book 3 stars. I'd love to read other books in this series, especially after the amazing epilogue!
