Werewolf princess Ashling Boru's eighteenth birthday is only a year away, which means that she only has twelve months before she is claimed and fulfills her prophecy to unite the packs and lead her people. Her father decrees that her four suitors must fight in the Bloodrealms, the werewolves' ancient underground fighting world, and the winner will have King Boru's choice to win Ashling's hand. The wolf laws are rigid and barbaric, and Ashling's illicit love for Grey, if discovered, will mean his death. But when Ashling and Grey get trapped in the blood-soaked depths of the Bloodrealms, they find ancient horrors far greater than Ashling's father's rule.

With betrayal around every corner and old nemeses set to destroy Ashling, she is more divided than ever between the destiny she didn't choose and the love that she did. To make matters worse, her decision will not only set the course of her future, but the future of her entire race.

My Thoughts...
Going into this book I knew I'd enjoy it, but this book took me by complete surprise and BLEW ME AWAY! I loved every moment of Bloodrealms, it's every YA paranormal romance lover's dream!

There's tons of romance, countless plot twist you'd never see coming and it's much darker than the first book Bloodmark. Oh and it's perfectly paced, never a dull moment!

Let's delve a little deeper into what I liked:

  • Their Culture: Compared to the first book Bloodmark, the story went into much more detail and I found myself fascinated with their customs and holidays.
  • The Bloodmark Celtic Calendar- It's a solar/ritual calendar. You can check out the whole calendar HERE.
  • New & Original Creatures as well as MAGIC! - Most are pretty frightening, borderline horror.
  • Countless plot twist: Okay I knew there'd be plot twist, but it seemed there was one after another, once again I was blown away!
Not only are there countless plot twist, but the whole plot is so character driven, the amount of character development was absolutely amazing! Ashling has grown so much since the first book Bloodmark, I cannot wait to see her in the next book Bloodmoon! She's fearless, brave and loves deeply.

The overall theme of this book is good against evil. Throughout the book there's ever growing love between not only Ashling and Grey, but between their packs as well. Loyalties are tested, new alliances are formed.

I'd recommend this book to those of you who love reading about characters who grow and aren't afraid to deal with some pretty scary situations to overcome major obstacles. Oh and for those of you who love romance, magic and of course werewolves!

Now please...go read this series! You can check out my review for Bloodmark HERE
