Sixteen year-old Hope Walton travels back in time to rescue her mother who is trapped in twelfth century England in the age of Eleanor of Aquitaine. Along the way, she becomes entangled with a secret society of time travelers and a mysterious boy who could be vital to setting her mother free... or the key to Hope's undoing. Addictive, romantic, and rich with historical detail, "Into the Dim" is an "Outlander "for teens.

My Review for Into the Dim...

Want a time-travel book that will knock your socks off? Look no further, Into the Dim is your book! (Take it from me, I’m always in search of a sock-knocker-offer-time-travel book!)

Not only am I a sucker for time-travel books but did you know this book takes place in Scotland and England! Gah, I love love love reading stories with the setting in Scotland! That setting is just so magical, remote and romantic! (Not to mention that Hope references her family's home in Scotland to Hogwarts!)

Ahh the budding romance in this book! Obviously I won't tell you what happens but I will say there is almost a love triangle, but in my opinion there is none as the story progresses! Hooray for no love triangle!

Now let's just say that there are some tough situations that Hope and her friends are put in in this book. I guess as much trouble as you'd expect any modern day person to get into who has just traveled back in time a thousand years. Shit goes down in a major way in Into the Dim!

Speaking of time-travel, the way in which it's planned out in this story is fresh, original and exciting! I will say my favorite scene in the whole book was when Hope travels to 1154 London. The moment was practically oozing off the page! I was literally on the edge of my seat couch rooting for Hope and her friends to make it through the Dim all in one piece! I've read a lot of time-travel books but not once have I stumbled upon such a fantastic, original description!

I thoroughly enjoyed Hope's reaction to medieval London. One thing that stands out was her realization of what “on the rag” meant.

I tried racking my brain to decide who my favorite secondary character is. Guess what? I realized that the characterization is so great I couldn't choose just one! I ended up with three. I loved Phoebe, the sidekick who is quirky, funny, loyal and can kick some ass if need be! Rachel, the strong, brilliant, brave girl who I am still rooting for! Last but not least Eleanor of Aquitane. I did not expect to like her for some reason. She quickly won me over however. She is a queen, but is humble and very likable. I really felt for her situation, but she did make me realize something. That reminder is of the many struggles women have faced and just how far we've come! (Oh and I'm so glad I wasn't born in 1154!)

Would I recommend:

Wholeheartedly yes! This story is chock full of danger, mystery, intrigue and a whole lot of action!
